In 1961, a Houston housewife named Louise Seger showed up early to see her favorite singer perform at a local ballroom. Patsy Cline showed up early too. What started as a chance meeting between a star and her biggest fan turned into a real friendship that lasted for the rest of Patsy’s life.
Based on a true story, Always... Patsy Cline is told through Louise’s colorful, big-hearted memories as she brings us back to the night she met her idol. Along the way, Patsy sings the songs that made her a legend, including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight.” With more than two dozen classic hits and plenty of down-home Texas humor, it’s part musical, part concert, and all heart.
Created by Ted Swindley, the show premiered in 1988 and went on to become one of the most popular musicals in America. Fun fact for our audiences: the full-length version of the show was developed for a theatre right here in South Carolina.
Whether you grew up with Patsy’s records or you’re discovering her for the first time, you’ll leave humming her songs and remembering the friendship that inspired this unforgettable show.
